SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Each year the Harnett County Business Education Partnership strives to provide scholarships for deserving students. To apply for this scholarship, you can download our application.

The Harnett County Business Education Partnership established a Five Hundred Dollar Scholarship this year (2006) at each of the four high schools. In keeping with the goals of the Partnership, the criteria for applying for the scholarship were being a full time student with a 3.0 GPA or better while maintaining a part time job. A committee graded the applications “blind” and selected the following winners:

Whitney Byrd from Western Harnett
Whitney has maintained a 3.8 GPA while working at the Board of Education in Lillington with Child Nutrition 10 hours/week. She is the daughter of Debbie Byrd. She is currently involved with the Senior Beta Club, Student Government, Senior Class Committee, and FFA Club. Whitney plans on attending college to become a dental hygienist. Her employer describes her as on time, dependable, happy, loyal, mature, competent, focused and as having a strong work ethic whom does high quality work.

Annaleise Lysen from Overhills
Annaleise has maintained a 3.8 GPA while working at PD Quix in Fayetteville 20 hours/week. She is the daughter of George and Susan Thomas. She currently serves as Vice President of Health Occupations Students of America, the Historian of the Beta Club, Captain of the Marching Band Color guard, and as a member of the concert and symphonic band as well as being a Sunday School teacher and involved in her Church Youth Group. Annaleise plans on attending college, dental school and hopes to become an orthodontist. Her employer describes her as dependable, working well with others, doing more than is expected and as a true asset.

Nick Bradshaw from Harnett Central
Nick has maintained a 3.914 GPA while working at Food Lion in Lillington as the head stocker 18 hours/week. He is the son of Ted and Teri Bradshaw. He currently serves as the Senior Class Vice President and as a student representative to the superintendent’s advisory committee and HCBEP. He is also a member of FBLA, Senior Beta Club, Future Farmers of America, and the Mock Trial Team as well as the Co-Captain of the Men’s Tennis Team. Nick plans on attending the UNC-CH and hopes to become an attorney. His employer describes him as professional, on time, dedicated, dependable, and as a hard worker and role model to his fellow employees.

Brittany Dziedzic from Triton
Brittany has maintained a 4.519 GPA while working at Carlie C’s IGA as a cashier 7 hours/week. She is the daughter of Eric and Sylvia Dziedzic. She currently serves as a Senior Class Representative, treasurer of the Beta Club, President of the FBLA and is a member of the foreign language honors society and varsity softball team. She is also active in her community and the South Erwin Baptist Church. She plans on attending Campbell and hopes to become a CPA. Her employer describes her as efficient, honest and dependable.
